Food Safety Guidelines to Follow During Bake Sales


      Sound sanitation practices must be followed when preparing baked goods -- such as washing hands, using clean equipment, utensils and preparation surfaces.

      All food ingredients must be pure, wholesome and free from contamination or adulteration.

      People having any kind of contact with the baked goods during the preparation, packaging, transporting, displaying or selling of bake sale items must be free of communicable diseases such as the flu, common colds and hepatitis.

      Hand and arms must be free of open wounds, cuts, and sores.

      Food grade gloves should be worn when portioning and packaging the baked goods.

      If children will be baking products they should be supervised by adults to insure sound sanitation pratices are followed.
